SXSW

Like most of the tech, film, and music world, we were in Austin, Texas this week covering SXSW. We were there, of course, to cover the music video portion of the event, which started with the first music video program screening on Monday at 11am. The selection of music videos for 2013 was a strong case for why music videos deserve a spot next to short films and features like they enjoy at SXSW. It was also, as always, really fun to see music videos in a theatre with a great sound system. For a look of all of the videos in the music video lineup, check out this post.

We had a sweet couple of days hanging out, drinking beers, and eating Doritos with some awesome directors like LAMAR+NIK, Kevin Slack, Alex Fischer, and The Diamond Brothers, whose short film The Ballad Of Danko Jones screened in Austin this week as well. We also ate dinner with Saman Keshavarz right before he won the Music Video Jury Award for "Stamina" by Vitalic, so we’re clearly good luck charms.

In addition to the interviews we’ve already done with Saman Keshavarz, LAMAR+NIK, Ellis Bahl, DANIELS, and Pat Scola, we did a whole bunch of interviewin' while we were in Austin - so look out next week for new Video Chats featuring directors with videos that were part of the music video lineup. Until then, check out some photos from our trip.
