Biography
There are three bands with the name “Suns”. 1. The SunS trio, Gjokica Zafirovski - vocals and guitar, Sasa Pavlovic - bass and Andrej Anastasov - drums, spontaneously established year 1991, after few fortune and unfortunate musicians and art types tried to share their energies and ideas, mashed the words, guitars and rhythms to translate their word and thought about their surrounding, fears, hopes, highs and depths of the urban life, collapsed communist societies and systems, cosmopolitan and globalism influences, loneliness and love - in songs about the contemporary Macedonia. 2. Suns are back for another round of dragging atmospheric rock into the alley to smack the stars out of its eyes. Armed with their first full length, “When We Were Us,” the band takes a leaner, meaner and more melodic approach to its distinct brand of ribcage-shaking density. The darkness, the drunkenness, the desperation - it’s all still there, but now it digs in with sharper hooks… Suns plan to self-release “When We Were Us” on lavishly packaged vinyl and digital download, supported by endless touring in their full-size decommissioned school bus. These guys won’t do anything on a small scale and we’re just going to have to get out of their way. 3. Suns is an indie rock band from Fairfield County, Connecticut. Its core lineup includes Will Rutledge, Billy Indelicato, and Will Ponturo. Musicians such as Peter Katz of Fugue, Omeed Goodarzi of Midi & the Modern Dance, Tim Marzik, and Adam Levison also of Midi & the Modern Dance, have also contributed to the band. They have released two EP’s, the first, Abandon Yourself For Everyone, was made in 2008. In 2010, they released the Three Songs EP and are putting out a new 6 song EP this summer titled “Be Good Boy”. The band started on a soft gravel road of sound, which has taken them to flying eighty down I-95. www.sunsmusic.bandcamp.com
