Top 5 Videos

Thursday proved to be a game changer for FRINGE MUSIC FIX's best music videos of the week, with the top two videos both coming out that evening. Also, no honourable mentions this week, keeping it simple with the top 5 only. Livin' on the edge.

Matteo Inchingolo conceives a magnificent mars-like universe throughout which computer generated shapes interact. During the video’s opening and closing sequences, Inchingolo’s lens also captures the captivating face of model, Deborrah Grasso.

Similar to the unlikely, but inarguably successful remix of "Life Round Here," Director Nabil sets out to create a video that combines seemingly contrasting styles and ideas and finds unity between the two, yielding one of this week’s best music videos.

An exceptionally visceral voyage through space that blends live action footage with stylish computer generated animation. One of this week's most remarkable videos from an artist that clearly demands more attention.

Andrew Thomas Huang, best known for his recent incredible work on Bjork’s “Mutual Core” and Sigur Ros’ “Brennistein,” once again creates a masterpiece of post-production and imagination. Utilizing his trademark style consisting of abstract colourful organic growth and shapeshifting landscapes, this outing sees Thom Yorke take the form of a deteriorating monument immersed in a spiralling quicksand-like landscape.

Dream Koala’s video for “Odyssey” features a beautifully rendered and detailed tropical landscape that’s peaceful setting soon reveals a tale of tragedy. A very rewarding release for patient viewers. The tone and themes are reminiscent of another recently released favourite video of mine, Young Galaxy’s “New Summer,” which also found majesty and beauty via tragedy. Where “Odyssey” trumps that one, is that one might sense the greater story waiting to be unlocked and may even return for a second viewing to search for clues.
