The new video for "High Roads" by Cults starts with a shot that travels through Cults members Madeline Follin and Brian Oblivion, as well as a TV screen and a wallpaper pattern. At the end of the video, we're shown the same sequence but in reverse, taking us out of the black and white world of patterns and visions that makes up the Hiro Murai-directed clip. "High Roads" is a sort of meditation on contrasts - contrasts like light and dark, black and white, and also contrasts in the states of objects themselves. Several times in the video we get a view of an object (like a mounted deer head) only to later see it on fire or underwater surrounded by fish or upside down.

While some of the elements definitely have a surreal element to them, there are also some really graphically striking images. In one shot, Hiro Murai uses the black and white contrast to create an odd-looking shape that takes a second to register as the members of Cults from an on-high perspective looking down, with their shadows off to the side. That image multiplied several times over on the screen is just made up of people and shadows, but becomes something entirely different.

Regarding the car, we're pretty sure it is a BMW E12, possibly the 520i.

The video for "High Roads" by Cults was produced by Danielle Hinde and Kimberly Stuckwisch for Doomsday Entertainment. The track will be available on their upcoming album Static, which will be released on October 15th.
