Directed by Christopher Hill, the video for "Free Your Mind" by Cut Copy has sparked a lot of internal debate here at IMVDb. Upon first watch, we were pretty sure that this video, starring Alexander Skarsgård from HBO’s True Blood, was about a weird but laid back cult with a gentle giant for a leader. After watching it a few more times and brining IMVDb contributor Adam Alexander in on the conversation, we agreed that this could actually be a mental hospital, as many of the characters in the video appear to be receiving some kind of treatment and the basketball scene sparked memories of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

After taking a walk around the block to clear our heads, we realized that Skarsgård seemed to be the only character with any authority in the video, and that near the end some of the characters were clearly mixing some sort of Kool-Aid type drink. Also, we’re pretty sure that having sex out in the open is frowned upon in mental hospitals. Back on #teamcult, we brought the debate to Facebook, where our friend and music video director Matt Wells said, "This debate is why its great. I love any music video that creates a world and raises more questions than answers. " We couldn’t agree more. So, everyone on #teammentalhospital out there, don’t worry. It’s possible you’re right, and if you’re not, that's cool too.

"Cut Copy" was produced by Jason Baum and Niamh Peren for Doomsday Entertainment, and can be downloaded as a single now.
