The video for “Dare You” by Hardwell featuring Matthew Koma tells the story of a bunch of young people in a big city being brought together by music - specifically the dance music provided by Hardwell. Directed by Alex Herron, the video opens on people by themselves doing everyday things like getting dressed, fixing their cars, and eating Takis on a skateboard. As the music intensifies, everyone suddenly stops what they’re doing and bolts as quickly as they can in the same direction. Some are in cars, some are on bikes, and some are just straight up sprinting. Director of photography Pat Scola constantly plays with the sunlight in the shots, allowing it to serve as a way to connect these people who are scattered around the city. Soon you notice that each of the characters is holding the same key, connecting them even more, and some of them even start to meet up and travel together. As night falls, we find all the characters together in an ally. They use their keys to get into a building that leads them into an elevator, which takes them directly into a packed Hardwell concert. Rather than trying to recreate the atmosphere of a life show, the final 30 seconds of the video take place at an actually Hardwell concert, and the energy in the building really comes through in the video. The concept may be simple, but it definitely plays into the feeling of togetherness and commonality that many EDM artists look to encourage. Side note, we're not sure if Ticketmaster has switched to a golden key system, but we think that would be awesome.

“Dare You” was produced by Sarah Park for BLVD Industries and can be downloaded as a single now.
