The Most Popular Music Videos Released This Week (5/16)

Posted by Adam Fairholm on May 16, 2014

Staff Post

If you would've told me last Friday that the next week of music videos would include a sentimental tribute to Eminem's mom directed by Spike Lee, a Michael Jackson video, and two videos with Pitbull in them, I'd be skeptical. But here we are, checking out a list of the top most popular music videos of the week that includes these very things.

But of course, there is much more, like "The Plastics" by The Plastics, a group made up of people who underwent plastic surgery to look like other people, something I'd never do even if I could book 20 kids birthday parties a week as an entertainer. Well, never say never, but I'm like 95% sure I'd never do that. We also have the official music video for the 2014 FIFA World Cup (the last one did pretty well), and video for a song about how girls should lighten up and stop trying to impress them by not eating cake. Do girls not eat cake now? Is that a thing? When I was in high school cake was the thing to eat.

On the flip side, if you would've told me last Friday that this Friday we'd be looking at another 50 Cent/Eif Rivera video in the top 10, I'd have believed you. Their weekly video release this week was "Winners Circle." I'm starting to notice that all of these Eif Rivera 50 Cent videos have 50 Cent in them - there aren't any videos where it's some animation or narrative that 50 Cent didn't have to show up for. He showed up and performed for each one. That's dedication.

There are so many videos to check out, so take a look at the list below, and then turn on our top 25 new videos this week playlist, and hear us talk about some of them in this week's podcast. Afterwards, remember to head to the nearest restaurant that has pictures of the food on the menu. Without pictures of food on the menu, you're flying blind! That's how we do Friday here at IMVDb.
