Submitting Videos

The first step for adding videos to IMVDb is to sign up for an account. You can sign up with your email address or your Facebook account, if you have one.

If you did not sign up using Facebook, you'll need to verify your email address before you'll be able to submit videos to IMVDb. If you don't get an email verification email after signing up, you can resend it (make sure you check your spam folder).

Before you submit a video to the database, please read our eligibility guidelines.

Submiting on IMVDb.com

After you have verified your email address and determined your video is eligible, go to Video → Submit a Video in the main menu, and enter the information about your video. You can add as little or as much information as you'd like to. However, we require at least the Artist Name and Song Name.

Submitting via Email

For production companies and other entities, we recommend signing up for an IMVDb Pipeline email account. This allows you to send video information to a unique @imvdb.com email address and will send that information directly into our submission queue.

You can also directly email submit@imvdb.com with video submission information.

Moderation Process

Once your video is submitted, it will go into our video queue, which is administered by a group of IMVDb moderators. If you signed up using the video form or IMVDb Pipeline, you will receive an email once your video is either accepted or denied.

For video and Pipeline submissions, if we need to ask questions about your submission, we will post a comment on the video submission page. If a question is posted on your video submission, you'll receive an email with the question and a link to where you can respond.

Marking Your Video as High Priority

To deal with the large amounts of data submissions we get at IMVDb, we've devloped a system that flags your video as high priority. This highlights it in the submission queue and means it will be moderated first.

These are the things that trigger your submission as being high priority are:

  • A video that has a release date within the last 10 days.
  • A video that is listed as in production.
  • A video that is listed as in post production.

Tweets from @newmusicvideo

All music videos that are added to the database released within 5 days of the current date are tweeted on the @newmusicvideo Twitter account. Moderators make an effort to include any twitter handles for the aritst and director.
