Video Sources
Each music video entry on IMVDb represents one video, and can be accessed through the URL structure http://imvdb.com/video/{artist-name}/{song-name}/{version-number}.
Each music video entry has the ability to track multiple sources for that video. A source for a video is defined by anywhere this video appears on YouTube or Vimeo.
The following sources are eligible to be added to IMVDb:
- The official artist upload of a music video.
- The official record label upload of a music video.
- The director's upload of a music video.
- The production company's upload a music video.
- A fan-upload of a music video, with stipulations (see below).
Fan Uploads
Fan sources for videos are sometimes necessary to add to the database because it may either be the only source of the video online, or it may receive a large amount of views. This is a fairly common occurance for older music videos that do not have a label or arist representative to put the video online.
Low Quality Official Uploads
In some cases, the official upload for a video is poor quality, and a fan-sourced, unofficial upload provides much higher quality. In these cases fan uploads are encouraged to be listed in the database regardless of the view count.
Directors Cuts
Director's Cuts of videos should be added as video sources to existing videos, instead of being listed in completely new entries.
