Each week, FRINGE MUSIC FIX culls the latest music video releases, carefully selecting the most bizarre, provocative, and remarkable videos from across the world.

Sit back, relax, and open your mind’s eye; things are about to get interesting. The following are our selections for the week ending April 6th, 2014.

What starts off as an intimate look into the romantic endeavours of Parisian electronic artist Jackson Fourgeaud, quickly develops into a mind bending role-swapping narrative that would be right at home with the screenplays of Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, Adaptation, Synecdoche, New York). Shot in black and white and directed by So Me, “Memory” is a darkly amusing and strong visual accompaniment that’s a perfect match for the song’s subject matter and themes of memories distorted and forgotten.

The music video for “Don’t Wait” by Mapei is a simple and stylish video directed by Dori Osokowitz, which captures Stockholm based artist Mapei and her significant other as they wander about in a leisurely manner while looking absolutely stunning decked out in cutting edge fashion. The carefree couple eventually make their way to a house party, where dancing and camaraderie ensues and everyone is a lot cooler than I am.

Chad VanGaalen animates the surreal and disturbing music video for Canadian act, Timber Timbre. The unsettling visual brings to life a peculiar vision of the darker side of suburbia via psychedelics and over the top scenarios.

Produced by Urban Outfitters and directed by Luis Cerveró, the video for “Mess On A Mission” is an excellent pairing with the glitched out electronic disorder of Liars’ latest full length album, “Mess”. The video sees the band themselves filmed in a green room setting that escorts them on a looped journey to various settings that all seem to be in some state of apocalypse. To make the video even more unique, the trio is filmed walking in reverse while yielding an assortment of various held objects which range from video cameras to umbrellas. As the video unfolds, it’s reality is compromised to the beat of the music, further distorting it’s stability and resulting in even more surreal and magnificent chaos.

Director Rick Robin serves up this week’s most spellbinding video with his unique clip for Throwing Snow’s “The Tempest”. The fascinating visual presents a series of male and female individuals enrobed in Grecian attire, seen floating and digitally replicated across a black backdrop. The remarkable visual effect gives an otherworldly sense to the video, and through one particular sequence, even yields 3D-like results. It’s a completely unique and mesmerizing video that’s jaw dropping nature demands to be seen.

Girl Talk & Freeway - Tolerated Ft. Waka Flocka Flame
