Each week, FRINGE MUSIC FIX culls the latest music video releases, carefully selecting the most bizarre, provocative, and remarkable videos from across the world.

Sit back, relax, and open your mind’s eye; things are about to get interesting. The following are our selections for the week ending June 8th, 2014.

Director Mike Piscitelli remains stylistically consistent with BANKS’ growing videography with his sultry and narrative free video for "Drowning." The video places the talented songstress in a room filled with mirrors and strings of lights and features a colour palette comprised primarily of blues and reds. The mesmerizing yet simple visual is an effective testimony to BANKS’ on screen charisma and her undeniable allure.

Balázs Simon was so moved by the beauty of Nils Frahm’s instrumental piano based single “Re," that he was inspired to create this incredibly beautiful digitally animated video to visualize the story and universe he’d imagined. The unbelievably detailed and dreamy video is a jaw dropping affair that demands the attention of animation and music video fans a like.

Kimbra and director Justin Francis unleash their inner weird with the wild and colourful homage to the fashion and music videos of the 90s. From it’s neon colour pallette to it’s heavy use of fish-eye lense and other elements reminiscent of pop and hip hop videos from the glory days of MTV, the video serves as a modern twist on the nostalgia of every millennial's youth.

DANIELS and Zak Stoltz unite to create the imaginative and out of the box video for Joywave’s “Tongues,” which serves as a clever satire of recent music video tropes such as liberated youths in the woods and the gratuitous use nudity. The mock 60’s footage features a group of nudists frolicking in the woods until they are eventually interrupted by hunters wielding clothing guns, determined to violently clothe every last soul. The plot thickens when one of the hunters falls for one of the nudists in true Romeo & Juliet fashion. Eventually, the star crossed lovers are torn apart as clothing collides to monstrous results.

David Altobelli directs the breathtaking psychedelic video for Washed Out’s “Weightless." The video explores young love and longing amidst beautiful sunset skies and warm summer nights. In the video we accompany the shy protagonist through his dreams and desires of breaking free from his withdrawn and lonely reality. In his slumber he experiences fleeting moments of connection with the object of his affection
