Each week, FRINGE MUSIC FIX culls the latest music video releases, carefully selecting the most bizarre, provocative, and remarkable videos from across the world.

Sit back, relax, and open your mind’s eye; things are about to get interesting. The following are our selections for the week ending August 24th, 2014.

The Idiosyncratic and charismatic songstress, Kimbra, releases the second music video and single from her new album, “The Golden Echo”, called “Miracle”. Director Thom Kerr stated that with the visual he was intent on “Showcase(ing) not only how beautiful she (Kimbra) is, but her eccentricity as a live performer.” To achieve this, he set Kimbra loose on the streets of New York, dressed in an unforgettable coordinated outfit consisting of a red beaded body suit, matching red hot pants, platform boots, and a backpack. As she makes her way down the streets singing and dancing, she is joined by other dancers, in true flash-mob style. Fashion designer Jaime Lee Major is responsible for the magnificent clothing designs seen in the video, and as a matter of fact, the wonderful sequined dress Kimbra wears in the last half of the video, was actually designed for her to wear at the 2013 Grammy awards.

Director Ryan Staake has had his sights set on employing a technique he refers to as “infinite tunneling” for a while now, and when asked to direct a video for The Asteroids Galaxy Tour’s “My Club”, he saw this as the perfect opportunity to experiment with the technique. “Infinite Tunneling” is the process of tunneling through shots to explore the perception of where one shot ends and another begins. For the shoot, actors were asked to wear blue clothing which would then be shot against green screen. Through post production editing, the simple yet impressive effect was achieved and gives the video it’s visually appealing and amusing final result.  This isn't the first time Staake has employed never-ending things.  In 2012, he directed an amazing video for Diplo's "Set It Off", which featured a never-ending stripper pole hurtling through the cosmos.

Super cool sister trio HAIM collaborate with director Dugan O’Neal on the very funny video for the remix of “My Song 5” featuring A$AP Ferg, who also stars in the video. The cameo laden video, which features appearances by Grimes, Big Sean, Ezra Koenig, Ke$ha (credited Keisha), is a mock daytime talk-show, in the vein of Jerry Springer, called “Dallas Murphy”, who is portrayed by Saturday Night Live’s Vanessa Bayer. The video cuts excerpts of dialogue from the fake talk show with performance footage of HAIM. While the concept could have been difficult to pull off, with the likes of O’Neal, HAIM and an ensemble cast of talented stars on board, the video worked out remarkably well.

Action Bronson revisits his fascination with the films of the 60s and 70s with his humorous homage to 1977 cult hit, “Easy Rider”. Bronson’s last video ,for “The Symbol”, directed by Rik Cordero, was also a tribute to cult 70s film. While the original “Easy Rider” film saw two bikers travelling from LA to New Orleans in search of “America”, this video, directed by Thom Gould, sees Bronsolini travelling cross country on a motorbike, high out of his mind on acid, in search of his majestic missing guitar. Once reunited with his axe, we are treated to a fantastic bare-chested face-melting guitar solo shot atop a cliff at sunset. Action Bronson’s hilarious performance and the high production values of the video make for a standout visual that’s among the unique rapper’s best.

The unstoppable Hiro Murai continues his trend of nighttime videos with the epic apocalyptic visual for rap group, Shabazz Palace’s #CAKE. The dark and ominous visual set in an urban cityscape features a number of common nightmare themes including impossibly huge snakes, being chased, falling from heights and of course, beautiful giant nude models.
