Each week, FRINGE MUSIC FIX culls the latest music video releases, carefully selecting the most bizarre, provocative, and remarkable videos from across the world.

Sit back, relax, and open your mind’s eye; things are about to get interesting. The following are our selections for the week ending September 14th, 2014.

JASH unveils the Eric Andre-directed video for Thundercat’s “Tron Song,"  the newest entry in their $5K video series, in which a comedian and a musician get together to direct a music video for $5,000, no questions asked. The video is a surreal and intentionally lo-fi, and is a quality homage to Thundercat’s own pet cat, Tron. The bizarre and somewhat disturbing images, styled in the vein of Adult Swim fare, and Andre’s own series The Eric Andre Show, make for one of this week’s most intriguing and confusing visuals.

Son Lux released a performance style video directed by Jennifer McQuiston Lott for “Lost It To Trying” in October of last year. This time, the excellent electronic act employs a more narrative approach for their incredible single, at the hand of director Imogen Murphy. The dark visual presents an irreparable relationship bound by the emotional weight the woman and man carry for one another.

The video for “Kiss And Not Tell” is yet another retro styled video for Electronic Pop artist La Roux. The visual is a faux 80s infomercial for an adult talk line. For viewers hoping to interact just a bit more, the number featured in the clip (011-44-155-728-0014), can actually be phoned. Callers will hear a pre-recorded message from La Roux herself. The stylish video features a collection of unforgettable retro phone sets, and a handful of people coaxed into phoning La Roux’s talk line.

Jessie Ware delivers this week’s most emotive and powerful music video performance in the simple yet effective music video for “Say You Love Me," directed by duo Tell No One (Remi Weeks and Luke White). The visual sees the songstress seated on a rock, interacting with birds, in true Disney princess fashion.

Thomas Blanchard takes us on a kaleidoscope journey for his hypnotic visual for Leon’s “2033." The colourful video combining footage of LEON, a beautiful woman, shapes, colours, and an assortment of found objects. It employs 2D, 3D, and Stop motion animation to yield impressive results. It’s one of those impressively crafted music videos where any single screen grab is a work of art.
