Making Sending Data To IMVDb Easier

Staff Post

Since we first launched our video submit form over a year and a half ago, we've received more than 11,000 video submissions to the IMVDb database. We've also received more than 20,000 individual credits and other pieces of data for videos that were already in the database.

Since then we've created some extra tools on our end to help us process data faster, and we've simplified the tools that you can use to send data to us. Got some stuff you want in the database? Read on!

The Submit Form Is Now Really Simple

Our submit form was a little tedious to fill out for large productions, so we've created a form that allows you to simply give us credit information in a text box instead of entering each credit one by one. There's even a button you can click that will populate the text box with whatever is in the YouTube/Vimeo description of the video you're submitting - this is really handy if you've already typed out credit information in the description box of your video.

Give us a few pieces of data and you're done! We sort out the individual credits.

This is feasible because of some internal tools we've built that parse raw text data for easy addition to the database. If you want to format your credits to make that process as easy as possible, you can use our credit format. However, any text credit data will do.

Send Anything To submit@imvdb.com

The submit form allows you to keep track of your submitted data and get an email when its been moderated, but you can actually just send anything you want to submit@imvdb.com. Credits, instagrams, call sheets (we keep call sheet personal information secret and safe) - really, anything. We'll take it and we'll get it up on the site. For new videos, ones that are already listed - even in-production videos.

In fact, every video now has general email and Gmail-specific mail links that pre-populate your email's subject line with a video reference code so we know what video you're talking about.

Expecting more? That's it! Thank you for helping IMVDb grow!
