New Features at FilmedInsert

Staff Post

We're currently going full-tilt at FilmedInsert in the features adding department. Every day, aside from new music videos, new features get added that expand what FilmedInsert can do and what you can do with it. Here's a roundup of what we've recently released.

Claim Your Database Entry

Do you have an entry in the FilmedInsert database? If so, make sure to sign up for the beta, create your account, and then request to manage your database entry by clicking on on the link on the right hand side of your entry page.

Once we confirm that it's really you, you'll be able to edit select data on your profile, and take advantage of new profile features once they are released. If you represent a production company, you can claim multiple database entries, so feel free to request to manage yours and your production company as well!

What can you do with the current profile editor? Well, you can add a title for yourself and specify a company that you work at (if you work at a company). The title you give yourself ("Video Commissioner", "Director") will be used as the byline when people search for you. Plus, you can add your Twitter handle (which appears right below your name) and all sorts of links to places like your Vimeo profile, IMDB page, and your blog.

So if you haven't done so already, get in on the beta, and request to manage your database profile!

Video Timeline View

Some directors have very large directing histories, and displaying them in our traditional full-thumbnail mode was getting unwieldy. So, we've recently introduced a new video listing mode that organizes videos by year. If you're logged in, you can star those videos right there. It automatically kicks in for large video listings, and soon you'll be able to toggle which mode you'd like.

To see it in action, visit the Robby Starbuck entry page.

Lyric Videos and Unofficial Videos

As we noted last week, unofficial or "fan-made" videos are rapidly rising in terms of production values and overall quality. We currently track Behind the Scenes videos as well as parody videos, and we recently added support for lyric videos and fan-made ones as well.

New Credit Format

When FilmedInsert started, we really didn't distinguish between different types of credits for a long time. They were all just in a big glob. Now, we're happy to announce that credits have been given a big overhaul, with a new, more professional interface, and defined sections. We've also greatly expanded the number of credit types that we have available. We're not nearly done, but this was a huge step in the right direction.

Those are the highlights, but that's not all! Want to help out with FilmedInsert? Sign up for the beta and provide feedback! FilmedInsert is built for our users, so the more we hear back from you, the better we get!
