Introducing IMVDb Notifications

Today we're releasing a beta version of a fun new IMVDb feature we're excited about: notifications. Here's what they look like:

With lots of information flying around IMVDb, this is going to help a lot. Let's say you manage the profile for your production company, and someone submits a credit for that production company in a video submission. We accept it into the database and now your production company page has one more credit. How would you know? Well, you'd open up IMVDb and a little red indicator now tells you that something happened that you should know about, and that something is that your production company was credited in a video. (For what to do if this credit is incorrect short of emailing us, keep an eye on this blog next week.) This list will expand, but right now you'll get a notification if:

  • A video you submitted is added to the database
  • A video you submitted is not added to the database
  • A person/company/artist you manage has a credit added to the database
  • A set of data contributions you made to a video has been moderated

Speaking of data contributions (the data you add to an existing video by clicking "Add Info"), we realized launched this feature without giving users a clear indication of what happened to that data. That changes today, as your submissions area now has a section for data contributions. You can even see in your notification section what happened to each contribution.

That's right! A notification section - you can check that out to see an expanded view of all of your notifications. For instance, if you had a video added, you'll see a little embed right there.

If you have any trouble or spot anything buggy, please email me at adam@imvdb.com. Otherwise, start racking up those notifications!
