It's been a few months since we launched the first tools that allow everyone to submit data to IMVDb, and in those few months we've learned a lot. We've gotten great feedback and thought a lot about the direction we want to go and what our priorities should be. In the last few days of 2012 and in early 2013, we are going to be rolling out a lot of new features, and some are a direct result of the last few months of getting a handle on the site. Some have been in the cards since day one, and we're just getting to them. All of them, though, we're really excited about.

Today, we're getting the ball rolling with some housecleaning: a revamped music video page and data adder.

We realized that we had a bit of a layout problem for the video page. In a nutshell, credits were being treated like just another piece of data, when they were really the focal point of information that we collect about videos. So, we put the credits higher up, and created a new section that houses all the other data points we have about a video, from the length to aspect ratio. This is like a fact sheet for a music video, and you can add data to it by clicking "Add Information" below it.

We also have a new data adder to replace the one that appeared under the video embed in the old video page. Here's what it looks like:

To use it, just click "Add Information" or "Add Credits". A box will pop up, and you can enter various pieces of information before submitting your bundle of items to IMVDb for review. It's simple, and makes filling out the information on a video a quick task. For situations that require more bulk credit editing and adding, we have a solution coming for that soon. We're calling this box a beta product for the time being.

This is our first step in a series of new features we're really excited to roll out. So give the new data adder a try, and please direct questions, feedback, and bug reports to adam@imvdb.com.
