As our Indiegogo for IMVDb Production goes on, we're blogging about some of the features that we're planning on including in the first release. Today, we're talking about our planned analytics & connections feature.

On an average day at IMVDb, a few hundred data points flow in to our database. With each new data point, we get a clearer view of a picture that has never been seen before: how music videos and the people who make them are connected.

For instance, if you are a director and you want to find out how you are connected to a production company, our connections feature will be able to tell you that you worked with a producer who worked on a video where that company was the production company. That's a relatively simple example, but with our collection of data, these are the sort of connections that we can make clear.

While logged in, every profile you visit will tell you if you somehow are connected to them via a chain of music video credits. We think this is going to be really interesting. Sites like LinkedIn can tell you if you worked at a company with someone else, but IMVDb Production will be the only place where the connections that make up the music video industry and music videos in general will be made visible.

We're also planning a more detailed analysis of view counts related to different people and companies in the database, with aggregate view counts and some interesting charts and graphs for people who are interested in the numbers side of music videos. View count numbers and shares can only tell so much, but we can pull some interesting facts out of that data, and IMVDb Production will be able to look deeper into those numbers.

We're really excited to bring this feature out of planning and into production. How can you make this happen? Just go to our Indiegogo campaign and help by supporting the project. We're crowd-funding these features because we are planning on making IMVDb Production a free tool, and we need your help.

Stay tuned next week for some more information on our planned features!
