A New Look for Credits

IMVDb is the music video database, so obviously one thing we need to do really well is display music video credits for people, companies, and artists on their pages. The first incarnation of our page credit display was a simple table of credits, and then we had a more complicated system that put credits on their own sub page. However, today we're rolling out a new incarnation that we've been playing around with for a while, and we think it brings a new level of credit browsing to IMVDb.

One of the biggest changes is now being an artist or a featured artist on a video is treated just like any other credit, so an artist's videos appear as a section of credits alongside all the others. Here's an example of an artist credit listing:

Treating artist and featured artist connections as credits means that you can easily drill down and share some really specific information . For example, here's a page of Katy Perry's music videos from 2011, and here's Lil Wayne's impressive featured artist videography. Here's Partizan's videos from in 2005 and Hiro Murai's VFX Credit History. We'll continue to add more ways to filter and sort this data as well.

You'll also notice that you can now see director and production company information in the credits table when viewing by position.

Another feature we've added is something called view basis. Basically, view basis adds two bar graphs to each video in a list. The value or each graph represents its relative share of views or shares with regards to every other video in the section. So, if you have three videos and one has 200m views, one has 500k views, and one has 100k, their relative popularity will be visually apparent just by scrolling down the list.

Additionally, if you want to see the exact totals, you can hover over each to see the number.

We're really excited about this incarnation of credits on our site. We want an IMVDb page to be something that can be quickly referenced for a basic fact, or poured over to find some interesting details. We'll continue to add on top of this system, so look out for new features for credit sorting coming soon.
