In her new music video for "Tookah," Icelandic singer/songwriter Emilíana Torrini is represented by her disembodied CGI head and arms, which are floating in a mysterious, watery green environment. Soon Torrini's face starts to multiply and spin around her before her face becomes temporarily distorted. Eventually she fades into the black.

Directed by Shynola, the video is a compelling and strange visual that seems to always be walking a line between reality and an illustration. In fact, Shynola created a CGI likeness of Torrini for the video, inspired by the concept of the "uncanny valley" (See Shynola's interview with NOWNESS for more on the process behind the video). The resulting effect produces the same kind of unsettling emotions that the uncanny valley is supposed to inspire, but it also has an element of beauty to it, making it an interesting exploration of the concept.

The music video for "Tookah" was produced by Svana Gisla and Jacob Swan Hyam for Black Dog Films. "Tookah" is the title track off of Torrini's latest album, released in September.
