“Battle Cry” by Angel Haze ft. Sia is a song about overcoming adversity, no matter how hard it gets. The lyrics are uplifting and strong, but also general enough to be meaningful to anyone who is hoping to grow out of a difficult situation. Directed by Frank Borin, the video for “Battle Cry” focuses on a handful of specific, dark scenarios that Angel encounters as she walks along an empty desert highway, including a mother physically forcing her elementary school-aged daughter away into what appears to be some kind of religiously encouraged prostitution, and another young woman contemplating and attempting suicide. Angel gives a passionate performance throughout the video, at times appearing to direct her lyrics at the other characters. In addition to featuring inspirational lyrics, the video and song serve as proof that you can overcome adversity, as they depict a successful Angel Haze confronting situations that mirror her own life experiences.

“Battle Cry” was produced by Jamee Ranta for London Alley Entertainment and can be found on the album Dirty Gold.
