"Promises" by Cloud Control is a dark video about a beautiful woman whose not-so-beautiful husband seems to have just been murdered, and she appears to be significantly involved in the crime. Directed by Keith Musil, the video opens on the woman looking distressed after waking up in an empty bed. She wears a man’s dress shirt and focuses on a suit hanging up on the other side of the room. She slowly walks into the living room and begins to watch a breaking news story about a local murder, where a police sketch of the suspect is shown.

We then find the woman getting dressed up for what appears to be a date. She applies makeup and zips up a little black dress. As she gets ready, a young man who bares a striking resemblance to the man in the police sketch is looking in on her from outside. At this point in the video, you fear for the woman’s safety. Based on the information given so far, the viewer is lead to think that this woman might actually be in danger, and that the man who killed her husband might also be there to kill her.

We cut to the woman driving her car through a back ally when the young man emerges from the bushes. She stops the car and he hops in. She begins to cry and he consoles her by wiping her tears away. The two eventually start to laugh together and mock the woman’s dead husband. What’s next is a whisky-fueled date filled with golf, skinny-dipping, and lots of emotion. As the date progresses, it’s clear that the woman is running the show. She drags the man from location to location, and is clearly in control of the situation. The date ends with the couple parked in front of a semi-truck. She gives him a peck on the lips and he gets out of the car. Right before he gets into the semi, he looks back at the woman. He doesn’t say anything, but his eyes say, “I did this all for you”

"Promises" was produced by Joe Faulstich for Doomsday Entertainment and can be found on the album Dream Cave.
