Laundromats are odd places - you go there with a bin of your dirty clothes, wash them, and stand around trying not to make eye contact with anyone. It's not even on my top 25 list of places that are likely to host dance parties. But at the Launderland Coin Laundry we see in Elliott Seller's new music video for "My Head Is A Jungle (MK Remix)" by Wankelmut and Emma Louise, it feels like dancing is even more important than having clean clothes to wear.
The star of the show is dancer Camila Ivera who walks into the Launderland, sheds her clothes, and then breaks out in nonstop, intense dancing until the end of the video. Sellers keeps finding new and interesting ways to film the laundromat throughout the video, and sets up an environment where we have the real world where the track is coming through some boom box speakers, and a fantasy world where everyone is dancing and the track is in our face. Some perfectly timed cuts between these two worlds makes for some really funny moments.
Bonus: If you live in the California area, you can actually go to one of many Launderland locations, but if we're being honest here, chances of other people joining in on your dance party hallucinations are low.
