Earl Sweatshirt

At the end of last year, Earl Sweatshirt released the Hiro Murai directed "Chum," a dark and introspective video that was easily one of the best hip-hop videos of 2012. Earl and Hiro’s latest collaboration, "Hive," has a similar dark tone and features Earl surrounded by several monsters wearing Vans whose faces are reminiscent of the monsters in Hiro’s "It’s Only Life" video. Featuring Casey Veggies and Vince Staples, the video is able to take some of the more traditional elements of hip-hop videos – like performing into the camera, hanging out on the block, and mean mugging – but in a more haunting, almost sinister way.

“Hive” was produced by Jason Colon for Doomsday Entertainment, and can be found on Earl’s upcoming album, Doris, which can be preordered now.
